Harry A. Kemp was named senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of Lear Corporation in August 2019. He is responsible for Lear’s legal and regulatory matters worldwide as well as overseeing Lear’s internal audit and compliance functions.
Kemp joined Lear in 2009 as vice president and divisional counsel, electrical. During his career, he progressed to divisional counsel for Lear’s Seating Division, and vice president and corporate counsel.
Previously, Kemp was a partner at the Detroit law firm of Bodman PLC, specializing in commercial transactions including mergers and acquisitions, and an engagement manager at global management consulting firm McKinsey and Company.
Kemp graduated from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, concentrating in accounting and finance. He earned his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School.
Kemp is a member of the board of directors of the United Way for Southeastern Michigan and serves as an advisor to the Archdiocese of Detroit.
